Welcome to the site of Sean Powers, technophile, writer, designer and eclectic. Here you can find information on me with regard to my writing, art and professional history.
I have worked in computers for over twelve years now. I worked full-time as a network administrator, technician, and technical writer at Infobahn Outfitters while I completed my undergrad at Western Illinois University. I majored in English with a German minor. I have since worked in Arizona as a technical writer, graphic designer and web developer for a variety of companies. I now reside in Chesterfield, Missouri and work for the Monsanto corporation, an agricultural bio-technology company, as a technical writer and multimedia designer.
My favorite genre of fiction writing is survival horror, a term defined by Capcom's Resident Evil series of games. It is a genre best defined in the film series of Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and its contemporaries. Richard Matheson's I am Legend is the best example of survival horror fiction available. This is a genre that I see being extremely successful as a massively multiplayer online game, more thoughts on this can be found in the Writing section. At the present, a game in development titled Exanimus looks to fill this void in MMO's.
I work primarily in Photoshop, Illustrator and Corel Paint (depending upon the look I'm aiming for). Most of my more comical work is done in Illustrator first, then touched up in Photoshop. My more serious, or darker work is hand drawn first, scanned and touched up. Much of my inspiration for drawing has stemmed from H.P. Lovecraft's work and specifically the art of Paul Carrick, a Lovecraft Mythos artist.
