Activities: Full day 8:30-3:30 Sea Caves tour (715-779-9503)

This is one of the most spectacular places you could ever hope to paddle. Centuries old wave action, freezing and thawing have sculpted red sandstone into artful caves where only kayakers can go. You pass in and out of delicate arches, vaulted chambers and through honeycombed passageways. Deep echoing sounds caused by wave swells washing in and under the ancient walls create sounds that reverberate through heart and soul.
At the put-in on a sandy beach that faces the Minnesota and Canadian north shores, you learn basic paddle strokes and run through an introduction to pertinent safety issues on Lake Superior. Then it’s launch time for an out-and-back course of about 6 total miles. Lunch is enjoyed at the half-way point with a view of Sand and Eagle Islands.
