Backpack 3 days 2 nights Start at Palomarin trailhead - best combination of solitude and scenery, start at the Palomarin trailhead and make a loop of about 15 miles using the Coast and Ridge Trails. Can't Miss: A night on the coast at Wildcat Camp and a morning walk along the beach to nearby Alamere Falls. Crowd Control: The Coast and Sky Camps receive the bulk of overnight guests. Lodging: Backpack Camping at Sky #5 - Go to Bear Valley Visitor's Center (open until 5pm) to meet ranger and get information. If we're late, there will be a box at an information "booth" with our permits inside. At the campsite, we need to use the bear canisters - stop skunks etc. Out by 12pm at each site.
Activities: Backpack Camping at Wildcat #6- At the campsite, we need to use the bear canisters - stop skunks etc. - Water tastes REALLY bad here -even filtered. Get H20 from lake, or take it from the Horse trough.
Activities: AM Hike Point Reyes, visit lighthouse, PM drive to Ft. Bragg

Fri 5/14 Medocino Area
Stayed at the Casper Beach Campground -- mostly an RV park - but they built a nice tent campground in the back along a creek. All state park campgrounds were full.
Sunday, 5/16: Mendocino to Calistoga

Thurs 5/20 Backpack into Hetch Hetchy - stay at Rancheria Falls (6.7m)
Fri 5/21 Yosemite Wilderness: Rancheria Falls to Beehive (13m) - UGH - long day
Sat 5/22 Yosemite Wilderness - Yosemite Park - Merced
Beehive to Trail head(7m) -then drove Tioga Road to see Tuolomne Meadows and the mountains outside the east side of the park. We decided to leave Yosemite to get to San Fran earlier - drove as far as Merced for the evening. Dinner at the Firehouse Brewpub -- good microbrew and pizza
