Two programs are needed to run Open Transport on the Macintosh: Open Transport 1.1.2 and OT/PPP 1.0. Install both programs with the extensions off (start the computer and hold down the shift key), and then restart the computer with the extensions on (restart without pressing any key). Step 1: Open TCP/IP in the control panels folder. In the pulldown menu next to "Connect via" select PPP. If PPP is not a possible selection, check if PPP has been installed in the extension folder. Step 2: In the pulldown menu next to "Configure" select Using PPP Server. Step 3: In the box next to "Name server addr." enter the following IP numbers:
64.6.15.2 Step 4: Close window by clicking in the box at the upper left corner. If asked if you want to save changes, click OK. Step 5: In the Control Panels folder select PPP (or PPPot). The space next to "Connect via" should say "modem."
Step 6: Under "Connection" select Registered User.
Step 7: Click on the "Options" button at the bottom of the box.
Step 8: Select the Connection popup tab.
Step 9: Choose the popup tab for Protocal.
Step 10: From within the Control Panels folder select Modem. If your modem is connected to the modem port, select "Modem port" from the pulldown menu.
To connect using Open Transport, go to the PPP control panel and select "Connect." |
